Six Month Stoma Care Programme ( REP )
This programme is for registered nurses. Experience in surgical nursing, ICU or theatre will be an advantage.
Course Duration
6 months.
The course runs over a period of 6 months. During this time there will be 2 in person theory sessions. The first session of 5 days at the start of the course and another 3 day session after 3 months.
A written exam and OSCE will take place at the end of the 6 months
The student will be required to complete a minimum of 2 weeks clinical didactic within an established stomaltherapy practice to obtain their clinical competencies.

Course Assessment
Continuous assessment for the duration of the course will be undertaken through set assignments, case studies and competencies.
At the end of the 6-month period the student will undertake a written theory paper and a clinical OSCE.
In the event of a student not being successful in either or both the written and/or OSCE, the student will be given one opportunity to re sit and/or redo the exam and/or OSCE
Pass marks:
- Assignments and case studies: 70%.
- Written exam: 70%
- OSCE 80% on each station
